Partner Visa options
To bring your partner to Australia, there are different types of partner visas available

Partner visa options:

You may be eligible for a partner category visa if you are:

Spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, or

Fiance of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, or
-
De-facto partner (including same-sex relationships) with an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.

If are applying in or outside of Australia
Applying in Australia:
If you are:

Applying for a visa in Australia, and
-
A spouse or de facto partner of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen

The Temporary Partner Visa (Subclass 820) and Permanent Visa (subclass 801) will be the applicable pathway for you.

Applying outside Australia
​
If you are:

Applying for a visa outside Australia, and
-
A spouse or de facto partner of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen

Intend to marry before a decision is made on your Partner visa application

The Partner (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 309) and Permanent Visa (Subclass 100) will be the appropriate visa you need to apply for.

If you are:

Applying for a visa outside Australia, and
-
Intend to travel to Australia and marry an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen after you are granted a visa.

The Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300) would be your pathway.
